a thousand words is the combined efforts of Chris Altorf and Jessica Hayes. Based in Toronto, they work as a photographic team to create dynamic and captivating portraits.
Since summer on 2005 they have maintained the award winning photoblog istoicaEVERYDAY which receives thousands of daily visitors. Self taught as photographers, they also studied film at the University of Toronto. Their skills include graphic design, photo re-touching, web development and film-making. istoica’s interest in the the arts continues with their role as coordinators at WhipperSnapper Gallery, a not-for-profit space aimed at Canada’s young and emerging art scene.

what's this all about
"A Thousand Words" is the logical extension of the istoicaEveryday idea. We want to create some conversation about what inspires and influences us, as well as share some of our experience in photography and design.
This blog is for communicating ideas that just can't be realized by the camera alone. We hope you'll talk back.
